Adriel Linhares
About
Hi, my name is Adriel. I've been teaching officially since the beginning of 2020 (yes, just before the pandemics) but I've been teaching music since the first time I had the opportunity with friends, colleagues and family. I always loved studying music, teaching and composing.
Recently I've obtained a undergraduate degree on composition by Faculdade de Artes Alcântara Machado, one of the most prestigious universities of music in Brazil. My teaching experience goes through some music schools, including School of Rock (where I work at the moment) and many private students. At the moment, I also work as a host in a Open Mic event that happens every Wednesday, a experience that has brought me several opportunities to improve my teaching by inviting people that doesn't know how to play an instrument to do it so, having their first playing experience with simple songs.
My teaching proposal is to work on a repertoire that pleases the students, developing their musical skills in a consistent and satisfactory way so that they feel comfortable and confident. Some concepts that I usually cover in lessons are repertoire (suggested by both teacher and the student), exercises, music reading, harmony, improvisation, ear training and composing.
Teaching Style
I'm a very patient and attentive teacher, focused on having the students to complete all their tasks and to be sure they understand the concepts properly, so they can develop their musical comprehension and abilities, as so to have a great sound when playing.

Curriculum
Usually I use my own material, with exercises and brief explanations about the topic in question. My methodology is based on my own experience through years of teaching, learning, playing and composing. Although I use this material, here are some of the books that most influenced my way of thinking and teaching music:
- Freatboard Logic I, II and III (Bill Edwards)
- Rhythmic Lead Guitar (Barrett Tagliarino)
- Guitar Aerobics (Troy Nelson)
- Guitar Freatboard Workbook (Barret Tagliarino)
- Guitar Player and Cover Guitarra Magazines (Several Editions!)
- Arranjo I, II amd III (Ian Guest)
- Brazilian Guitar Book (Nelson Faria)
- Chords, Arpeggios and Scales (Nelson Faria)
- And so many others.
