Alma Vomastek
About
Hi! My name is Alma and I’m a classically trained mezzo-soprano and vocal coach, specialized in classical singing and crossover styles, with a strong focus on symphonic metal.
My approach combines solid classical vocal foundations with real-world experience in heavier music, emphasizing power, control, and long-term vocal health. I focus on developing a voice that is strong, controlled, and expressive, without strain or damage, through efficient coordination and full-body (core) engagement.
I began studying piano before primary school and later trained in classical singing, graduating from the “Sigismund Toduță” Music High School in 2006, in Cluj-Napoca. In 2025 I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Classical Singing from the “Gheorghe Dima” National Music Academy, along with formal pedagogical training.
Alongside my academic background, I spent over 10 years as a symphonic metal vocalist, performing with three local metal bands: She-Wolf, Elogia, and The Hourglass. With The Hourglass, I worked as a lead vocalist, composer, and orchestrator, writing all the original material.
The band self-produced and released a full-length album (Through Darkness and Light, 2014) as well as a live DVD, and performed at major festivals such as Das Schloss Rockt (Münster, Germany), ARTmania Festival (Sibiu, Romania), and Dirty Fest (Seini, Romania), in addition to numerous independently organized concerts.
I gained extensive experience in rehearsal, live performance, and creative environments, which strongly informs my teaching today. I have been teaching private, one-on-one piano, singing, and music theory lessons for over 10 years, focusing exclusively on teaching for the past two years.
Through performing from a young age in metal bands, I developed and refined a personal vocal technique, firmly rooted in classical principles and safely adapted to the technical and expressive demands of modern and heavier vocal styles.
Before booking a lesson, please message me, as I also teach offline and occasional rescheduling may be necessary. Thank you!
Teaching Style
My coaching style is:
- supportive but precise
- Technique-focused, not random exercises. Each voice has its own strengths and limitations, which we address and integrate into the training process
- practical and immediately applicable.
I integrate piano, theory, and/or composition input when helpful, to accelerate understanding and progress.
