Amy Logan
About
My name is Amy Logan and I am a 22 year old Passionate flute and piccolo student currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I used to be a student at the royal conservatoire of Scotland junior department before beginning my degree which means I can teach all abilities, grades 1-8 and for people who want to develop a new hobby. I am currently a student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where I am developing both my performance skills and my musical versatility. Alongside my studies, I work as a swimming teacher and lifeguard, as well as a flute teacher, roles which have strengthened my sense of responsibility, communication skills and ability to support people in achieving their goals. I am passionate about fostering both confidence and strong technique in my students, creating a positive learning environment tailored to each individual. Outside of music, I foster dogs and have a strong interest in sports and musical theatre. Ultimately, I aspire to become an actor-musician! I believe a student learns best when they are encouraged and motivated so my techniques are always about creating a positive environment and inspiring students to succeed and fulfil their full potential whether that is playing their favourite songs, completing an exam or focusing on technique and music theory. My teaching methodology is very structured and sequential so we are always revising knowledge and building at the speed that is suitable to the student. My teaching is also goal based, thinking about long term and short term milestones and reinforcing the positivity with every goal achieved. My methodology is a mix between the Carl Orff method and the Kodály method, this means I teach through the main focus of being creative as it's so important to learn that as a skill. I focus on singing and clapping as a way of learning and understanding music, rhythms, phrases, pitch, patterns, tempo and dynamics as it helps to include your body in the musical experience as well as your instrument. I can teach in many ways for example aurally, visually and kinaesthetically. My method focuses on enjoyment and being collaborative and creating an enjoyable and meaningful experience for all. Lessons can be from 30 minutes minimum to 1hr 15 maximum I have a lot of experience in teaching through university as I have studied a teaching module for two years which discusses the methodology behind teaching, the psychology of teaching and I have received training and experience within the community, university and a few 1-1 students!I am also a STA swimming teacher/STA Disability swimming teacher for kids from the age of 3 up until 100! My lessons are for anyone as young as 7 up until the age of 100! These lessons are for anyone of any ability who has an interest in flute and piccolo and wants to share their wonderful musical passion with me!
