About
I'm a full-time performing musician and music teacher based in San Francisco, California. Since 2002, I've been performing and recording my original music, touring internationally, and I've released seven self-produced albums. The TV Show, Grey's Anatomy, used my song, Carousel, in 2006. I began singing and playing piano at a very young age, learning through private piano lessons and performing with award-winning choirs. I have a degree in piano performance as well.
With over twenty years of teaching experience, I offer lessons in piano, voice, and songwriting. I specialize in guiding aspiring singer-songwriters on their creative journeys, helping them find their voice and develop their craft.
I'm passionate about helping students build skill, ease, and confidence in their music. My students have gone on to achieve exciting milestones—whether it’s being accepted into prestigious programs like the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts for piano performance, launching gigging careers, or recording their first albums.
Teaching Style
My approach is all about meeting students where they are. I focus on what excites you musically, so you can grow in the direction that’s most meaningful to you. Whether you're interested in vocal or piano mastery, building confidence on stage, songwriting, or composition, I’d love to support your journey by sharing what I’ve learned.
Curriculum
I'm a very flexible teacher.
Voice: Singing can feel very vulnerable and more emotional than other instruments. My goal is for you to feel confident and free in your voice. I will go your pace and we will explore together. We will focus on vocal exercises and songs as tools to help you release your true voice and feel more relaxed and empowered.
Singer-Songwriter Coaching: This option is best if you've already started singing or you've already started learning piano or guitar. We will discuss your musical experience and chart a course of action together that matches your current level and goals.
Piano: If you're looking to learn how to read piano music, I recommend the Faber Piano Adventure books or the Little Mozart Books, depending on your age. If you're more advanced we will choose pieces outside of books and focus on technique, theory and possibly composition. If you want to learn alternative/pop styles we will focus immediately on chords, theory, and lead sheet reading so you can start playing along to your favorite songs, or accompanying your own.
