About

Holding two Master's degrees in Music and English, I've had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and skill levels across Europe, the United States, and online. With over 15 years of international teaching experience, I specialize in piano, singing, English, and German instruction. My approach is student-centered, aiming to make each lesson engaging and tailored to my students' goals. For those interested, I also offer mindful singing techniques to enhance vocal awareness and expression. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I'm committed to supporting you in a flexible, fun learning environment!

Teaching Style

In music lessons, I focus on the unique needs and aspirations of each student. I blend technical proficiency with expressive performance, encouraging creativity and confidence. For language instruction, I emphasize practical communication skills, integrating grammar and vocabulary in real-life contexts. I strive to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel motivated to explore and grow, ensuring that each session is productive and enjoyable.

I am an experienced international music educator, curriculum developer with over 15 years of teaching and performance experience across the United States and Europe. I have a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where I was honored with the Bezanson Music Scholarship for my vocal studies. Additionally, I hold a Master of Arts in Music Education and English and American Language and Literature from Innsbruck University and Mozarteum in Innsbruck, Austria.

Throughout my career, I have taught piano, singing, ear training, and music theory to both children and adults. I specialize in developing engaging, project-based, and interdisciplinary curricula that incorporate digital tools and educational technology to enhance student learning.

As the founder of the music studio Music with Ana in Belmont, California, I have provided individualized music instruction since 2011, creating digital courses and educational video content to support my students' learning outside the classroom. I have also served as a music instructor and choir director at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, California, where I directed performances and designed music programs for students in grades 3-6. Additionally, I taught music at the German American International School in Menlo Park, California, developing bilingual music curricula and directing school performances for students in grades 1-8.

Internationally, I worked as an interdisciplinary music and English educator at Formatio Private School in Liechtenstein from 2021 to 2024. My teaching has always emphasized student engagement, integrating modern tools such as AI-powered platforms and interactive learning resources.

In addition to my teaching career, I am a seasoned performer, having sung in solo recitals and with choirs in both America and Europe. I have performed in a wide range of settings, from traditional concert venues to community events, and have led singing and meditative singing workshops in the UK, Austria, and California. I also served as an administrator at the Early Music Festival in Innsbruck, Austria, where I gained valuable experience in event organization and music program management.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in fostering creativity, building confidence, and supporting students in developing their unique musical voices. I am passionate about creating a welcoming and inspiring learning environment for students of all ages and levels.

Curriculum

In my music instruction, I utilize a combination of classical techniques and contemporary methods to develop a strong foundation and artistic expression. For voice students, I often recommend "The Singer's Musical Theater Anthology" by Richard Walters, while piano students may benefit from the "Piano Adventures" series by Nancy and Randall Faber. Language learners are guided using resources like "English Grammar in Use" by Raymond Murphy for English and "German Made Simple" by Arnold Leitner for German. These materials support structured learning and are selected based on the student's proficiency level and goals. My methodology is interactive and student-focused, aiming to make each lesson a step forward in your learning journey.
