About
Anitra Thomas – Music Instructor
With over 15 years of experience in music education, I am passionate about helping students of all ages discover their musical potential. As the owner of Anitra’s School of Music, I have worked with students at various skill levels, tailoring lessons to their individual needs and learning styles. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering creativity, building confidence, and making music both enjoyable and accessible.
I specialize in piano instruction and ensemble training, guiding students through technique, rhythm, and musical expression. My approach integrates structured learning with fun, interactive methods that keep students engaged and motivated. I believe in providing a strong foundation in music theory while encouraging students to explore their own musical interests.
In addition to teaching, I have extensive experience in music performance and directing. I have led music for worship services, coordinated choir rehearsals, and organized student recitals to showcase progress and build stage confidence. My background also includes expertise in digital music production, allowing me to introduce students to modern tools and recording techniques.
Education plays a key role in my instruction. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing, Management, and Music Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. My knowledge of music education tools, such as digital audio workstations and online lesson platforms, ensures that students receive high-quality instruction in both in-person and virtual settings.
Through my experience teaching at Rockstars of Tomorrow Musicians Academy and running my own school, I have developed an adaptive and student-centered teaching style. Whether working with beginners or advanced students, I am dedicated to nurturing their musical abilities and helping them achieve their goals.
I look forward to inspiring and guiding my students on their musical journey!
Teaching Style
Music has truly transformed my life, and I am deeply passionate about helping others reach their full potential through music. With over 15 years of experience training youth, young adults, and adults, I’ve learned that a true musician is someone who plays with passion and purpose. Whether teaching piano or guiding you through math concepts, I believe the same principles of dedication, creativity, and problem-solving apply.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Management from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a Minor in Music. In addition to my love for teaching music, I’m also excited to share my passion for math. I believe that math and music are deeply connected—both are about patterns, structures, and logical thinking. Over the years, I’ve found that understanding math can enhance music learning and vice versa. Whether you're learning how to read music or solving math problems, the skills you gain are valuable tools for both creative and practical success.
I can’t wait to help you embark on your journey in both music and math, where we’ll explore, learn, and grow together.
