About

I've been playing the drums for over 26 years. Graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor's Degree in Music where I had the opportunity to put together drum circles and music events with my peers. Since then I've been in several projects where I've performed at the local radio stations, worked in musical productions such as an interpretation to Motown music, and worked with Scott Erickson for a benefit show. I currently have my YouTube channel which has almost 100,000 views and over 500 subscribers.

Teaching the drums and music production is one of my passions and I've been doing so for over 2 years. Currently I have over 40 students who I teach on a weekly basis. Three of my advance students are currently paying with their bands and have gigs on monthly basis. One of them in particular, auditioned for a youth group for his church and is now called in to sit in on a regular basis. I help my students reach the next level of their drumming and help them become better individuals in the process.

Teaching Style

The system I use for my students, I teach them the name of the drums, start with a quarter note drum groove and see what their strengths and weaknesses are. I go over the fundamentals and challenge them to play musical pieces on their own. I do the same for immeditate and advance students and see if they are able to read music from the drum exercises I put together for them. This allows to see what areas my students need more improvement and help them sharpen their skills. The majority of my beginner students learn their first 2 songs within a month timeframe.

Curriculum

I do go over drum groove exercises with my students and I have PDF files for my students to practice and reference. I also create click tracks to songs the student and I decided for us to learn. I use Logic Pro to create these tracks. I also show my musical production student to arrange his music and helped create 8-bit music tracks and sounds. This student is currently creating a comic strip with his friends and envisions himself making the music for his project.
