Blayze Windham
About
I’ve been playing guitar for over 25 years and teaching since 2006. My love for music started early, thanks to my dad, who taught my brother and me to play when we were kids. I grew up with a deep appreciation for all kinds of music, which led me to explore different genres throughout my career.
I started out playing in a blues band, and over time, my musical journey expanded. I studied jazz guitar in college and spent over a decade performing in show choirs. My background in rudimental and marching percussion gave me a solid foundation in rhythm, which has influenced my approach to guitar. While I was in college, I also played in a party band to help pay my way through school and started exploring country music, which I still enjoy today.
These days, I perform regionally in the southeast with my brother in our band, Brothers Windham. We play a mix of everything, from acoustic shows to full-band gigs, and have had the chance to perform at a wide range of venues. I’ve also had the privilege of studying with incredible players like Frank Vignola, Eric Gales, Dave Martone, and Mike Brookfield, which has helped shape my teaching style.
I’ve been fortunate to have a broad range of musical experiences, and I bring that versatility into my lessons. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, I’m dedicated to helping you grow as a guitarist and musician.
Teaching Style
My main goal as a guitar teacher is to encourage and support each student’s passion for music. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of studying with a wide variety of guitarists and musicians, each with their own unique approach to teaching. Those experiences have given me a broad toolbox to draw from, and I use that flexibility to adapt my lessons to fit each student’s individual learning style.
I believe that everyone learns differently, so I work to tailor my approach based on what clicks best for each person. Whether a student is more visual, hands-on, or theory-oriented, I aim to meet them where they are and build from there.
One of my core priorities is getting students to play real music as soon as possible. Alongside technical skills and harmonic concepts, I incorporate songs and musical pieces into our lessons right away. This helps students stay motivated, apply what they’re learning, and experience the joy of playing music early on.
Ultimately, I want to help students play the music they love while giving them the tools and skills they need to keep growing as guitarists.
