Brett Berg
About
British/American. Growing up with an American Dad from Hollywood, started my love for cinema. Growing up in England also opened my eyes to foreign films too, styles of acting and styles of film making and watching directors styles closely. My first job was in a video store. Submerged in films, I decided I wanted to be an actor. I started with an introduction to Acting Class in London as a Teenager. This led me to taking on 2 Years in Performing Art - Gaining A B-TEC National Diploma.
Studied at The Lee Strasberg Studio's in London, where my method acting training began, Under Don Fellows (Raiders of the Lost Ark) & Marianna Hill (The Godfather)
Studied in L.A with Bobby Chance - Scene Study
HB Studios New York -Scene Study
Wrote several Award Winning Short Film

Meg's Song
in 2005 I Wrote, Produced and Directed a Psychological Thriller "Meg's Song" that would go on to win 6 Awards. Jury Prize, Cinematography, Original Score & 3 Best Actor Awards for my outstanding cast. Now with over 30 years on set experience I understand what it takes to bring an actor out of their box and make them shine.
Also 3 Years in Film Production in NYC working as a PA, Key PA, Art PA, Locations Scout, A.D.
Teaching Style
Working on Monologs and Scene Study i like to bring the student out of their box, we can break down the scene too, where were you before the scene started what where you doing. If the scene is in a restaurant then you might want to try doing the scene with food for instance. Brushing your hair or teeth, well lets not mime it.
Combining Method & Character Acting. Method Acting can be helpful but it also depends on what the scene entails. Dustin Hoffan stayed up all night on the film ":Marathon Man" for one big scene he had before getting his teeth pulled out. Larence Olivia said to him, "Try acting my dear". Sometimes playing a bad guy as a good guy can be even more creepy. We want to take a good look at the character before jumping in so doing a little research always helps to bring them to life.
Acting is to not Act. I help actors get out of the traditional box and bring truth and realness to their work. After 2, 3 or 4 goes with a scene or monologue you can really see and feel the difference in performance.
Curriculum
So you will learn what works best for you, which method, for which character and scene.
Learn the scene first if possible. Sometimes its not possible like if you have to do a cold read. So get familiar with everything as quick as you can, improve if your aloud to but some Directors like to stay on script while others are happy for the actor to find his or her way making it their own.
