Brian Bibb
About
Hi all!
My name is Brian Bibb and I'm stoked to be your teacher! I'm a lifelong musician and have 10 years of music education experience. My primary instruments are saxophone and guitar, but I play a bit of everything - clarinet, flute, music production, percussion, etc.
As a performer, I've played with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, in a jazz band on a riverboat on the Missisippi River, and in dimly lit venues in my home of New York City.
I've taught music since my freshman year of college at the University of Miami, and as my career has evolved, I've shifted towards education and away from performance.
Since 2018, I've been a Teaching Artist for the Heartbeat Music Project, a New Mexico-based non-profit that gives free music education to children who live on the Navajo Native American Reservation.
In addition to the Heartbeat Music Project, I teach private and group lessons here in New York.
Teaching Style
I like to encourage my students and keep things fun, while simultaneously setting a high bar for them. I believe that with practice and self-awareness (via recording, teacher feedback, and practice journaling), a committed student will achieve their learning goals.
I'm also a huge fan of practicing with a metronome...If you don't know what that is, look it up, because it's going to become your best friend!
I teach students of all ages, kids to adults, and adapt my lesson plan and teaching style accordingly.
