About

I’m a dedicated handpan teacher with over 10 years of experience helping students connect with this unique and expressive instrument. My lessons focus on rhythm, flow, and creativity—no prior musical training needed.

I work with students of all levels, from complete beginners to more experienced players looking to deepen their improvisation and technique. Each lesson is tailored to your goals, whether you're interested in meditative playing, composing your own pieces, or just exploring the beauty of the handpan.

My teaching style is relaxed, supportive, and intuitive. I aim to create a space where students feel inspired, confident, and connected to their musical voice. If you're looking for a calm and creative approach to learning the handpan, I’d love to work with you.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is relaxed, intuitive, and student-centered. I focus on helping each student build a personal connection with the handpan through creative exploration, rhythm development, and improvisation. Lessons are tailored to your pace and goals, with a strong emphasis on technique and musical expression. I take a non-traditional approach—no sheet music or theory required—making the learning process accessible, fun, and engaging for everyone.

Curriculum

My teaching method combines hands-on playing with structured written material to support technique, rhythm, and musical creativity. I use clear visual notation and progressive exercises to help students develop control, coordination, and confidence on the handpan. Lessons include a mix of guided practice, pattern building, and improvisation, tailored to each student’s pace and interests. This balanced approach helps build both foundational skills and expressive freedom, even for those with no prior musical background.

I provide original written materials and exercises designed specifically for handpan learning. These include visual notation, rhythm patterns, and technique drills that support what we cover in lessons. Depending on the student's level and goals, I may also recommend select handpan books or external resources to complement their progress.

Credentials & Affiliations

- I have been teaching handpan, drums and accordion privately, online and at my home studio, since 2015, guiding students of all ages through rhythm foundations, melodic development, and improvisations. My lessons focus on helping each student find their own voice through the instrument, combining technique, creativity, and mindfulness.

- I studied music privately, focusing on rhythm, composition, and performance, and earned an RSL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Teaching Music.

- I performed at festivals and events across Edinburgh, including the Fringe Festival 2024 and The Edinburgh National Library. My work includes live performances, recording projects (I recorded an album called "The Beginning" with my band SoulMelodica), and collaborations with other musicians.
