Cara Bevan
About
Cara Bevan is a self-taught, professional artist who's been painting and sculpting since 2007. Growing up on an animal rescue farm and nature preserve gave Cara a deep respect for animals and nature. Her work focuses on creating life-like animals made from gourds, wire, clay, and other unusual materials. She learned how to create from gourds from her grandmother, Yvonne "Sam" Spinks, who grew many of the gourds she used. Cara uses a combination of wire and air-drying clays to add onto gourd armatures that she assembles together. Every feather, scale, hair, and detail is sculpted one by one, then each sculpture is hand-painted with acrylics. No detail is spared when it comes to Cara Bevan's fascination with nature.
