I love helping others learn. In my private studio setting, I have taught music to children K-12 and adults for three decades, everyone ages 4 to 84, literally.
I have performed with countless classical ensembles over a 50-year time frame. For the last 40 I have played with jazz, contemporary, and folk ensembles as well.
Teaching Style
Because I have worked with many age groups, interests, and learning abilities over the years, I tailor my style to each individual according to their unique learning style. I try to be upbeat and encouraging while conveying the fundamentals and sharing my passion for music with my students.
Curriculum
I have used a variety of the "methods" taught by school programs and orchestras as well as the standard fare of Appplebaum, Wolfhart, Hrimaly, Sitt, Flesch, and more. I've taught volumes of the standard classical repertoire as well as folk and fiddle tunes too numerous to mention.
