Chris Southern is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and teacher with years of experience both on stage and in the studio. Known for his expressive guitar playing and creative approach to music, Chris has built a reputation as a versatile musician with a deep passion for the instrument. A songwriter and lead guitarist with the newly formed The Moonshine Fridays, he continues to explore fresh sounds and original music. Alongside his own songwriting and recording, he is a dedicated guitar teacher with many years of experience helping students of all ages and levels unlock their musical potential. Whether guiding beginners through their first chords or mentoring advanced players in songwriting and technique, Chris brings patience, skill, and creativity to every lesson.

Curriculum
Chris' teaching style focuses on ensuring students develop correct technique and a strong understanding of music theory. I encourage students to improvise, explore their own creativity, and compose and write their own music, fostering a personal connection to their instrument and learning.
Credentials & Affiliations
Chris has over 25 years of experience teaching guitar and performing professionally. I have taught at Felix Redshoe Guitars, Soundtrack Music Company, and Gen R8 Music in Newcastle. He has performed live extensively, including a residency at the Australian National Hotel in Brisbane and Queensland, and regular shows at the Chalk Hotel (Brisbane/Qld) and West Wallsend Hotel (Newcastle). Chris holds an Associate in Contemporary Music from the Queensland Contemporary Music Centre in Brisbane
