About

I got started playing guitar at 13 when my grandmother unexpectedly bought me a guitar for Christmas. That passion led me to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design with a concentration on guitar (2014-2016). During my studies, I also pursued advanced private instruction with renowned guitarists Bruce Bartlett, who opened for Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Richie Hart, a former student of George Benson. After graduating in 2016, I moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue my professional music career.

In Los Angeles, I've established myself as a session guitarist and performer, working with notable artists across various projects. I recorded and performed as guitarist on Elli Moore's debut album "Confections" and collaborated with producer Alina Smith on multiple projects, including recording guitar for an yet to be released remix of Kenzie Ziegler's "Hot" and Gabbie Hanna's "Call Me Crazy." I've also performed live with Catherine Lidstone and was featured in her "Benefactor" music video, as well as appearing in Micky Skeel's "27 Days" music video.

I've been teaching guitar privately since 2017, working with students ranging from 13 to 60+ years old across all skill levels, having taught approximately 40 students with consistently positive feedback. My diverse student base allows me to connect with learners of all ages and adapt my instruction to meet individual needs and goals.

In addition to my guitar work, I've also built a career as a professional sound designer in the film industry, which provides me with comprehensive knowledge of music production and audio technology that enhances my teaching abilities.

Teaching Style

Guitar is difficult. If it weren't, everyone would be able to play it. But it's incredibly fulfilling to finally be able to play a song that brings you joy. I'm here to help you experience that. After playing for 23 years and 7 years of teaching, I've developed effective methods to help students of all levels reach their musical goals. I specialize in Rock, Funk, Pop, basic jazz, and Blues on both electric and acoustic guitar, and I can also guide you through complex fingerpicking techniques from folk to classical styles.

For beginners, I believe in learning songs you're passionate about while exploring the underlying theory that makes them work. This approach keeps you motivated while building a solid foundation – you'll discover new aspects of music theory with every song you master. I also focus on proper technique from day one to prevent bad habits that can limit your progress later.

For intermediate to advanced players, I emphasize mastering the fretboard using the CAGED system, which is essential for true guitar proficiency. From there, I tailor lessons to your specific goals – whether that's developing advanced techniques, exploring new genres, or preparing for performances. I can also help with songwriting, improvisation, and recording techniques based on my professional studio experience.

Having worked with students from age 13 to 60+, I've learned that everyone learns differently. Some students are visual learners who benefit from chord charts and diagrams, while others learn best by ear. I adapt my teaching approach to match your learning style and pace.

Every student has unique goals, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you want to play campfire songs, shred rock solos, or understand jazz harmony, I'll create a personalized lesson plan that keeps you engaged and progressing toward your musical dreams.

Curriculum

All I ask is that you bring an enthusiasm for music and you commit to practicing every week. One of the biggest bits of wisdom I ever received at Berklee was to remember that any song, no matter how difficult, can be learned as long as you break it up into pieces. Approach it slowly, bit by bit, and you can learn anything.
