About

I’m a Los Angeles–based pianist, composer, arranger, and educator with a B.M. in Piano Performance (Musicians Institute, Hollywood, 2018) and an M.M. in Interdisciplinary Music Studies (Berklee College of Music, 2024 – graduated with distinction). Rooted in classical technique but fluent in contemporary styles, I specialize in helping performers translate solid keyboard and theory skills into expressive, story-driven music making.

On the professional side I’ve worn a lot of hats: co-founder and music supervisor of For The Record (2010–2015), music director of Upright Cabaret (2007–2010), and most recently associate music director of Deaf West's production of American Idiot, which reopened the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles (2024). Whether I’m crafting 7-part vocal arrangements or accompanying Broadway stars, my goal is the same—create emotionally compelling music that elevates the entire production.

Teaching is where all of that experience turns into practical guidance for students. I currently teach Piano, Music Theory, Musical Theatre, Content Creation, Commercial Music Performance and other courses at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy – Los Angeles (2023–present) and previously served as Department Director of Musical Theatre at Hussian College, L.A. (2016–2023), overseeing dozens of shows and coaching hundreds of emerging artists. My courses cover ear training and sight singing, vocal technique, and real-world performance skills so that every lesson moves you closer to confident, professional-level musicianship. I’d love to help you hit your next artistic milestone—see you in the (virtual) studio!

Teaching Style

Expect each lesson to feel like a focused creative lab. We’ll start by clarifying your short- and long-range goals—anything from nailing a college-entry audition or sight-reading a Bach Invention to crafting lush string arrangements for your next song. I run a quick diagnostic, then build a bespoke roadmap that emphasizes skill acquisition and creative expression. You’ll always know why we’re working on a concept and exactly how it moves you toward your artistic targets.

My methodology marries conservatory rigor with real-world application. I lean on evidence-based techniques—e.g., retrieval practice for theory fluency, CVT for vocal health, and metacognitive check-ins so you learn to coach yourself. Because I’m active as a performer and music director, I can translate classroom theory into the practical skills industry professionals actually demand.

Whether you’re polishing a 32-bar audition cut, learning to improvise, or composing a string quartet, you’ll leave each lesson with a clear practice sequence, supplemental materials, and a tangible results—plus plenty of encouragement to keep the process joyful and sustainable.
