Claire Jung
About
Claire Jung received her early training at Seoul Art gifted school, prestigious institutions for gifted young musicians in Korea. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Seoul National University, graduating with honors. Claire continued her studies in the United States at Boston University, where she completed her Master of Music in Classical Voice Performance as a scholarship recipient. Her academic path was marked by both outstanding achievement and a strong foundation in vocal technique, performance, and stage interpretation.
Professional Experience
Alongside her formal education, Claire has built an active performance career spanning opera, oratorio, and musical theatre. She has appeared in opera productions and concert performances in Korea and abroad, interpreting leading roles in works from the standard operatic repertoire as well as contemporary stage pieces. In addition to live performance, she has taken part in various recording and collaborative projects, continuously exploring ways to merge classical artistry with broader stagecraft. Her stage work reflects a focus on expressive delivery, text interpretation, and connecting vocal sound with dramatic gesture.
Teaching Experience
Since 2013, Claire has maintained a private voice studio, offering tailored instruction in classical voice, musical theatre, and vocal coaching for auditions and competitions. From 2023 to 2025, she served as a vocal and voice coach at Union Lesson Studios, and from 2024 onward she has also been teaching at Merry Melody Music Academy. In these roles, she has guided students ranging from beginners to advanced performers, helping them refine vocal technique, expand repertoire, and prepare for auditions, competitions, and stage performances. Her teaching emphasizes the integration of breath management, resonance, diction, and dramatic expression, ensuring that students not only develop technical mastery but also discover their unique artistic voices.

First Lesson & Studio Philosophy
Your first lesson begins with your goals, a song you’d love to sing, and any past challenges (e.g., “my throat gets tired,” “high notes feel tight”). I’ll design a session that gives you tools you can feel working right away.
My teaching is technique-first and music-forward:
-
Breath & Support: image-free cues for grounded breathing, rib anchoring, and balanced onsets
-
Registration & Resonance: seamless chest–mix–head transitions; vowel tuning for freedom and ring
-
Healthy Power: strategies for high and loud singing without throat strain or fatigue
-
Musical Expression: phrasing, dynamics, and vibrato used as intentional choices
-
Repeatable Process: custom practice tracks and exercises provided after each lesson
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
-
Warm-up & Diagnostics (5–10 min): posture reset, breath check, and short vocalises
-
Technique Focus (10–20 min): targeted work on 1–2 specific areas (e.g., mix balance, consonant release)
-
Repertoire (15–25 min): applying tools to songs, arias, or monologues with emphasis on musicality and storytelling
-
Take-Home Plan (2–5 min): clear practice routine with 2–3 specific exercises
Students I Work Well With
-
Beginners looking for a supportive start and step-by-step guidance
-
Developing singers strengthening mix, resonance, and stamina for auditions or performances
-
Advanced performers preparing roles, competitions, studio sessions, or self-tapes
-
Adults returning to singing who want to rebuild confidence and comfort
Results & Studio Ethos
Students in my studio consistently report:
-
easier high notes without throat tension
-
clearer diction and confident stage presence
-
successful auditions for choirs, musicals, conservatory programs, and recording projects
My goal is simple: to help you sing the music you love with a body that feels free and a voice that carries.
