Conor Cantrell
About
I have been a professional musician for 20 years in Ireland, the UK and Berlin and have toured the world with many renowned artists such as the Commitments, Imelda May, Louis Stewart and the Brandenburg Symphony orchestra. As well as my commercial achievements which have encompassed TV/studio work, musicals, and live concerts to audiences of up to 45000 people, I have also enjoyed a fruitful artistic career, culminating in the release of several albums which I wrote and released; most notably my jazz album 'A Place Between Homes' which received several positive reviews from reputable critics like 'All About Jazz'. The album can be found on Spotify under the artist name 'Conor Cantrell'. Additionally, I have a degree in Jazz Performance from Trinity Laban conservatory in London and a Masters Degree in Popular music practices from BIMM Berlin.
Teaching Style
I have taught hundreds of students over the years. The youngest was 6 and the oldest was 70. I have learned to adapt to the needs and tastes of each individual. The first lesson will involve finding out what music and artists you like, your goals and previous experience with the guitar and music in general so I can best tailor our sessions to your specific needs.
I am easy to talk to, patient, social and friendly so there will always be a warm, enthusiastic and welcoming atmosphere.
Curriculum
Music oriented-
We will learn the guitar and music by playing music. That may seem obvious but countless methods get people to overly focus on exercises, theory and scales which can feel detached from the aim of learning how to play music. We will instead learn all of our technique, theory and fundamentals through melodies and songs.
My philosophy is, if you want to learn how to play music, well, learn and play MUSIC...
