Cyndi Evans has been highly successful as a singer/songwriter, artist developer, producer and teacher. Originally hailing from Dayton, Ohio, she has lived in Los Angeles for many years and now currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has performed all over the United States and the world as an artist singing on cruise lines such as The Royal Carribean, Carnival, NCL etc., and has shared the stage with The Jackson's, Barbara Striesand, Stevie Wonder, CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin and many others.
Likewise, she has worked for Takelessons as a voice teacher from 2009-2024 garnering over 200 five star reviews. Cyndi was also music director and artist for the tribute act, "The Voices of the Supremes," where she performed in various venues throughout the United States and abroad.
Because of her meticulous instruction, many of her students have gone on to obtain professional careers in the entertainment industry. Keisha Renee has sang backup vocals for such named acts such as American Idol winner, Fantasia, Nikki Minaj, JoJo, Jessie J, Kim Burrell and others. Grammy and American Music Award nominee, Julia Micheals, Ardena Clark, member of the Grammy and American Music Award award winning girl group, "Isis", as well as Amber Riley, Golden Globe award winner from the "Glee" cast along with Daniele Savre from the hit TV drama, "Station 19" are all Cyndi's former students.
"As a teacher, I get immense satisfaction from seeing my students excel and fly using the techniques and tools that I have taught them," Cyndi says beaming with pride. "My students have done tremendous things in the industry and it is my pleasure to continue to pass down the nuggets of wisdom and skill that I've obtained from over 40 years in the entertainment business."
Teaching Style
Grammy Award winning producer, Thom Bell (who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) was her mentor and taught her the art of record production. She also studied vocal production under the legendary Grammy Award winning producer, Hal Davis.
Cyndi was taught proper vocal technique by vocal trainers to the stars, Seth Riggs and Brad Chapman. She continued her private studies learning the vocal techniques of the great Alan Linquist. Her teaching style has subsequently morphed into a combination of all these great inspirational instructors.
I only studied music at Ohio University for 1 semester in 1972-1973. I was offered 2 recording contracts of which I joined Thom Bell under Philadelphia International Record/Thunder Records, Thom Bell's independent label. Because of the genius instructors mentioned above, I received priceless instruction and teaching from these masters that has been the catalyst for all my musical endeavors throughout my entertainment career. I studied piano independently for 6 years as well, which helped me with music theory, chord knowledge and sight reading.
Curriculum
As a teacher, Cyndi is kind, patient, very encouraging and extremely enthusiastic when it comes to instructing her students. Her students always see her as their friend and one who they know will bring out the best in them, because she desires that they grow to their fullest potential.
I recommend that my students obtain the book "Singing for the Stars" by Seth Riggs. This is a great study guide for learning vocal exercises that will help the student sing properly and develop great singing practices as well as increase their range.
