About

Hi, I'm Dan Sullivan, a Stockton University Business Degree graduate. I'm a music teacher and an organist for 2 churches for over 2 years. I've been looking to branch out and share my deep knowledge and love of music. I am both a classically trained and a jazz-trained musician. As for performances, I have played in pit orchestras for shows such as "All Shook Up", "Crazy for You", "Sister Act", "State Fair", and "Mean Girls".

Teaching Style

I take a multifaceted approach on teaching music to make my students as well rounded as I can. I view music teaching as a collection of different musical techniques and perspectives. My job is to educate you on as many different ways of looking at music

Curriculum

My goal as a musician teacher is not only to teach students how to read and play music, but to teach the "why" behind the music they play and to give them the ability to make their own music.

I highly tailor each lesson to fit the wants and needs of the individual student. Some areas of focus include scales, inversion, intervals, chords, correct posture and technique, hand position, and music theory

I like to teach out of the "Alfreds All-in-one Adult Piano book series. This lays a good foundation for good technique, good habits.

For scales and finger dexterity, recommend "Hannon the Virtuoso Pianist". To build a small repertoire and introduce famous classical pieces I recommend the "Big Book of Piano Classics For Beginners".

I love to introduce my students to Musescore because I always want them to play the music they love. Musescore lets you search for almost any sheet music you could ever want from pop music, classical music, movies, video games, etc..
