Daniel Canario Zapata

Hi, my name is Daniel Canario, I’m a Drummer, percussionist, producer and educator from the Dominican Republic based in the DR. I’ve playing drums for about 15 years, teaching drums and percussion since 2015 and teaching music in a elementary school since 2021. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music Studies from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, Santo Domingo. Mayor: composition, arranging and production. Medium level studies from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música, Santo Domingo, Popular and Folk Music Department. Focus: Drums.

As a professional musician I've played different styles and genres from gospel, pop, rock, jazz, merengue and folk music from the DR. I have experience in drums and percussion recording, transcriptions and arranging.

I work based on what my students want to achieve, using materials to help them develop technique, sight reading, musicianship and an improvising language. I focus on the background of the student, this way I know whats the best way for teaching them. 

I like my students to be able to develop and learn on their own. That's why I teach them how to approach to technique, language based on the music style, repertoire and comping. It's a custom program that'll help you learn and it will fill you with the tools to become a versatile drummer or percussionist.
