Danilo Milojkovic

Hello, my name is Danilo and I am a guitar teacher.  I have been playing the guitar for twenty years and teaching for eight. I hold a master degree in classical guitar performance from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, Serbia. Also, I play jazz, rock, pop, world music and make my own compositions and arrangements. I work in a Music School. I play concerts with repertoire for the classical guitar, and also I play in several bands, playing jazz, rock, pop, world music. 

My goal is not only to teach you how to play the guitar, but also how to understand what you are playing. I believe it is important to feel the music you are playing, as well as to analyse the structure being used in the composition. After that you can try to use those motives, harmonies, intervals and various types of rhytm to create your own music  So, the main idea is for you to learn how to play the particular compositions and to expand your musical vocabulary whilst improvising, analysing and creating your own pieces.

Music is a language and we will learn it as a language. The concept I use is the same concept as learning the native language. When a child is born it cannot talk. However, it gradually (slowly) absorbs the language by listening to its parents and the people in its environment. At first, the child tries to imitate particular sounds which later lead to words and sentences. At the begining those words and sentences have no meaning to the child. However, in time the child starts to understand the concept of a language, even if it still does not know how to read, write or use the grammar. Those things come later.

In conclusion, we will learn how to listen, how to play, how to read and write the language of music, also, how to understand the music and the music theory. To add that to me it is important to be creative and to have fun, to enjoy the process.

What else can I teach you?

I can teach you to play the chords and strumming paterns on the guitar. For those students that are familiar with playing the guitar, the intermediate and advanced guitarists, I can help you with the fingerings and with formal, harmonic, rhytmic, motivic and structural analysis. Also, I can help you with scheduling your practice, I can show you how to use the time management and to take the most out of your practice.
