About
Guitar lessons (also electric bass, banjo, dobro, ukulele, and mandolin) 30 minute lessons once a week in-person (or virtual) come in for a free consultation lesson today! My academic background is an M.M. in Jazz Guitar B.A. in Music Performance (graduated magna cum laude) with 19 years of collegiate teaching experience. I have 27 years of private teaching experience, and I teach private music lessons in west Little Rock. I have taught collegiate level courses ranging from applied guitar, sight singing, intro to music, guitar ensemble, and jazz combos at various universities. I have taught at Bowling Green State University, UA Little Rock, ASU Beebe, and UA Pulaski technical college.
I'm the founder and CEO of Arkansa's only amateur guitar competition, called Guitar Wars Inc., which is a nonprofit organization that raises money for underserved teenagers to become involved in taking music lessons. My primary occupation is running Central Arkansas's highest rated private guitar studio called guitar lessons with David Dunavant. I work mostly with adults and some teenagers.
Teaching Style
While I use my own curriculum call Street Guitar, I provide the student with a customized experience based on their wants and goals and focus on the genres of music they're interested in learning. I would describe my teaching style is casual but structured in the sense that the Street Guitar curriculum provides a thorough amount of structure graded information while half of the book is "blank "and we spent half of the time working on what the students interest are.
I have performed many times at local venues in Little Rock Arkansas in an original Rock group as well as many times at recital halls in the formal university setting playing jazz and classical guitar. I have taught private guitar/music lessons for the last 27 years at various studios and music stores in the Central Arkansas area. I have also opened up for the famous Fingerstyle guitarist and Christian artist Phil Keaggy.
Curriculum
I have written my own curriculum called Street Guitar and these books are available to purchase from me at my studio or through the mail.
