About
If you’re looking to grow as a creative writer — whether that means refining a draft, finding your performance voice, or starting something entirely new — I’m here to help you move your work forward with intention and clarity. I offer creative insight, thoughtful guidance, and a flexible approach tailored to your goals.
I’m an award-winning writer and educator with over a decade of experience teaching creative writing in both classrooms and community spaces. My poems have appeared in a range of literary journals, and I’ve shared my work widely through readings and live performances. I also served as the Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County, a role that deepened my commitment to making poetry accessible and engaging for everyone.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is relaxed, conversational, and rooted in curiosity. I see writing as a deeply personal process, and I believe the best work comes from understanding what truly moves you to write.
Rather than prescribing how your work should look or sound, I focus on asking thoughtful questions and offering insights that help you uncover the strongest version of your own voice. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, inspired, and empowered to grow as a writer.
Curriculum
If you're starting something new, I can provide writing exercises that are tailored to your learning style, along with inspiring examples to help spark your creativity. If you're polishing a draft or a full manuscript, I can offer detailed line edits that highlight what’s working and suggest ways to elevate your strongest moments. And if you're preparing to perform your work aloud, I can help you build a confident, grounded stage presence and develop a performance style that feels true to you.
Whether you're just getting started or have years of writing behind you, I’ll meet you where you are.
I also love sharing texts that have helped shape my own thinking as a writer and teacher—some personal favorites include The Triggering Town by Richard Hugo, On Writing by Stephen King, and Glitter in the Blood by Mindy Nettifee.
