David Rodriguez
About
Hello, my name is David, and I am a middle school music teacher in Southern California. My passion for music began when I was sitting in the trumpet section of my middle school band class. It had such a profound impact on my life that I decided that I wanted to become a teacher. I hold a bachelor's degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from Concordia University, Irvine as well as a Master's in Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from Azusa Pacific University. I have taught music for 9 years and, in that time, I have had the pleasure of teaching different ensembles including: music appreciation, guitar ensemble, concert choir, drumline, piano, string orchestra and concert band. My ensembles frequently participate in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) Festival where they consistently are awarded an 'Excellence' rating. The concert bands have also performed at Angel Stadium.
Teaching Style
My teaching style revolves around accessibility-- this means, making the content accessible to the learner. The lessons need to be sequential so that the student can easily master each activity before moving on to the next lesson. Lessons are individually crafted to meet the needs of the learner, there is no, "one size fits all" approach. A variety of resources (texts) and supplemental material are used to support student growth based on their individual goals.
