About

Davide Magni is a classical guitarist based in London.

Undeniably passionate about a wide variety of repetoire, Davide enjoys playing pieces that are consolidated in the repertoire as well as lesser known and newer works, such as ‘Fantasia per Laura’ by Giancarlo Facchinetti or ‘Caminos del Sur’ by Luis Bacalov. Davide also enjoys collaborating with composers to create new music for guitar. Davide plays a guitar by Julián Gómez Ramírez made in 1926.

Once he gained admission into the Conservatoire of his hometown, Parma, he started a fruitful study path with Massimo Felici, and had the chance to further deepen his knowledge of the instrument with musicians of the caliber of Oscar Ghiglia, Fabio Zanon, Lorenzo Micheli, Elena Papandreou. Having obtained his Master's Degree with Honors in Parma with a dissertation on the ‘Collectici Intim’ by Vicente Asencio, he attended his second Master’s Degree at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Michael Lewin and Steve Goss, where he graduated with Distinction in May 2024.

During the years Davide performed many times both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in prestigious venues such as Teatro Regio and Paganini Auditorium of Parma, as well as in Festivals in Reggio Emilia, Livorno, Portogruaro. In July 2021, Davide had his debut performance as a soloist with the orchestra La Toscanini in Parma; In London, he performed, in many occasions at the Royal Academy of Music and at Kings Place. Davide is one of the Young Artist Platform awardees for the year 2023/2024, an award organised by the international Guitar Foundation.

Alongside with his activities as a performer, Davide holds an extensive teaching practice both as a private tutor and in school.

Teaching Style

I believe that every lesson has to be specifically tailored on each student's needs. Each pupil will have their own journey with the instrument, and it is my goal to make sure I provide the best suited individual-based plan.

I also strongly believe that studying music is not only about learning how to play an instrument: it is a discipline that helps developing one's ability to focus, to commit, and that challenges you to push past your limits. And most importantly, it has to be fun!

During the lessons we will focus on:

- Repertoire

- Technique

- Preparation to any official exam/conservatoire admission/ABRSM grade exams

- Reaching your own goals on the instrument
