About

Hi there! I am studying my Bachelors in Music at Michigan State University and have a deep passion for music that I hope to give my students! I have competed in many international piano competitions over the years such as the Gulf International Chopin competition and Gulf Music Idol competition which I placed 1st overall in both. I have a vast experience preparing and performing at competitions and recitals, and I hope I can use this experience to help my students expand their skills.

Teaching Style

I love to give students the opportunity to choose what pieces they want to learn with me in the class. I play the pieces for them and they can choose which they like the best and want to learn. I also like students to always have a piece that they chose themselves (ex: movie music/famous songs they like etc.) so they always have a goal they set for themselves to reach, and will be motivated to improve their skills to be able to learn and perform well. I have a lot of love for music, so I can offer students that feeling of passion when I am teaching them in the classroom. I never want a student to feel forced to learn, so I can always make sure they are engaged and therefore learning to the best of their abilities. I can sympathise with them, so I know how to interact with them.

Curriculum

I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Library books for beginners and Piano Adventure books for intermediate. Generally, I like students to interact with as much "real music" as possible. This means pieces outside of lesson books that are played by professional musicians. I feel this is the best way to get students learning and interacting with music--especially without getting bored!

Here are some types of technical works and pieces I like to use with my students:

- Hannon exercises for technique and warmup as well as scales and arpeggios

- Bach inventions and preludes and fugues, Chopin Etudes for musical work and sight reading (depending on difficulty of each piece)

- Pieces from Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, Debussy, Schumann, Liszt, Mozart etc.
