About
I am a dedicated teacher passionate about music and the success of learners of all ages and levels. I am a very patient teacher. If I am your music teacher, learning will be fun! It is important that my students enjoy music and their instruments. I will lead you step by step along the way and will make sure that you have mastered each lesson before we move to the next level. Together, we will make beautiful music!
Teaching Style
I am patient and understanding. I do not believe in lecture-style teaching. I do believe that students learn best when I explain things and then demonstrate. I am never negative and believe in positive reinforcement.
I am a former public school band director. My bands consistently earned high ratings at music contests and festivals.
Curriculum
I will recommend a variety of method books depending on your level of achievement and understanding. I like to use the "I do," "You do," and "We do" methods. I do not give "busy work". I customize assignments for each student according to their understanding and musical level. I encourage and praise students, but I also challenge them. I will learn your goals and objectives, then strive to help you achieve higher levels of understanding.
