Ed Getzlaff
About
Based in New York City, I perform regularly and teach music privately. I have toured nationally as a sideman with several acts and taught internationally at the collegiate level. With over a decade of teaching experience in a variety of settings, I have been able to see many of my students achieve their aspirations. I encourage and assist my students through lessons based on the practical goals they have.
Teaching Style
My lessons are curated and tailored for each individual student. I encourage my students to bring music they enjoy to our lessons. I often use my student's curiosity and enjoyment of music to teach concepts and techniques that are in line with their goals. Technique and creativity are the skills I seek to grow in my music students.
Curriculum
The two texts I use to teach out of are
1. Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone
2. Syncopation by Ted Reed
3. The 26 American Rudiments
