Emil N Georgiev
About
I am Emil Georgiev, born on May 15, 1991, in Sofia, Bulgaria. As a professional guitarist, I have dedicated my life to the art of music, with a focus on classical, electric, and jazz guitar.
My formal training began with private lessons in classical guitar under Prof. Daniel Ribarov from 1997 to 2002. I furthered my skills with Svetoslav Kolev in electric guitar from 2003 to 2006, and honed my jazz improvisation techniques with Prof. Schibil Benev between 2008 and 2010. Additionally, I participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Milcho Leviev and Viki Almazidu at NBU Sofia (2011 and 2012) and George Garzone at the National Music Academy in Sofia (2014). More recently, I completed a certification as a “Certified Popular Musician (Guitar Professional)” at the New Music Academy (2020-2022), acknowledged by the State School Office Offenbach am Main.
I have accumulated approximately 10 years of experience teaching at music schools and offering private lessons. This extensive teaching background has allowed me to cultivate a deep understanding of various musical styles and techniques, which I share with my students.
My professional journey began in Bulgaria where I played in various bands and collaborated with television productions from 2005 to 2016. Notably, I was the guitarist, band leader, and arranger with the Swing Revival Collective at the Youth Theatre Nikolay Binev in Sofia.
Since moving to Germany on June 14, 2016, I have performed extensively with groups like Planet Kate, Swing Mafia, Risky Mondays, and Morgane et Melusine, among others. My performances have taken me to embassies, consulates, and major cultural events, including the Carnival of Cultures, Fête de la Musique, and the Long Night of Museums. I also provide musical accompaniment for art exhibitions and contribute to music recordings for bands and radio productions.
In 2018, I had the honor of performing at significant events such as the opening of the "Contested Memories" exhibition and the 17th German-speaking Japanese Studies Conference. In 2019, I played at the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Berlin, among other venues.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, I continued to engage in politically charged events and academic conferences, including the "100 Years of Education in Transition" and the closing of the exhibition "Post-Soviet Living Worlds" at the August Bebel Institute Berlin.
Most recently, in 2022, I performed at the "Lazy Sunday" event by GehaZu, and the "Songs Journey" concert in Hamburg, supported by the Initiative Musik gGmbH Neustart Kultur program. In 2023, I delivered music to a lecture titled "The Sound of the Workers' Movement" and continue to perform weekly at Terzo Mondo in Berlin.
With a rich background in diverse musical settings and a commitment to cultural enrichment through music, I look forward to continuing my journey and sharing my passion with audiences.
