About

Hi, I'm Emily! I have been singing since I can remember, and began voice lessons myself in seventh grade. I decided to pursue music professionally after high school. I graduated summa cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. I then went on to receive a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During my time at UMass Amherst, I was a Teaching Assistant for a Music Appreciation course. I have taught privately in my home as well as at a boarding school on the east coast. I currently have a small studio out of my home in Chicago.

Teaching Style

I believe in meeting my students where they are in their musical journey. I believe that voice lessons should be challenging, yet fun. I believe in warmups to start each lesson, regardless of the style of singing. From there, we will work on repertoire of the student's choosing. I believe in pushing my students to be the most confident performers they can be but recognizing that each person has different goals and comfort levels with performing. I will meet my students where they are at and come to each lesson with a positive attitude.

Curriculum

Warmups to begin each lesson; texts will be determined on a case by case basis depending on the student's level and repertoire needs.
