Eric Jayk

I’m a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer who has toured the world sharing the stage with renowned artists, recording/collaborating with legends of modern music. My songs have been licensed for CBS, TNT, E!, MTV, VH1, Oxygen, TBS and commercials for CocaCola, Samsung, Citizen Bank, and more. I have performed live on Good Morning America, the Fox Morning Show, Regis & Kelly, and international broadcasts. Having taught over 40k lessons in recent years, I have also had the honor of coaching iconic artists and Hollywood actors on set for feature films. I have been featured in Billboard, Rolling Stone, Guitar World, and more! 

I take pride in my students' growth and accomplishments and share my own love for music by helping you make better music. 

My teaching style is easy to understand, and I always make the learning process relaxed and fun. I’ve coached well-known musicians/actors/actresses & celebrities and been an on-set tutor for Hollywood feature films and coached during recording sessions, prepared students for school and conservatory admission, castings, tours, and major label industry showcases. I’m flexible, reliable, and treat all my students with top respect.

I began playing guitar when I was 8 years old (never too young or too old to shred!) and have been playing professionally since age 11. I have studied with the best rock/pop vocal coaches in the world and graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz guitar.

Singers: You’ll start seeing Immediate improvements and gain a better grasp of resonance, intonation, support, and diction. I’ll introduce you to the concept of ‘vocal placement’ and technique to expand your range and seamlessly connect between registers. I’ll explain vowels, resonance, and modification techniques to help you achieve your desired sound and adapt your voice to various music styles and personalities. This will help you maintain your vocal health. We can work on stylistic singing: clean/distorted runs and riffs, vibrato, screaming, rhythmic singing, and songwriting as a singer. 

Lead and Rhythm Guitar: My step-by-step approach to learning to solo is easy to understand and apply. You’ll master Pentatonic major and minor scales quickly while we work on your musical understanding. You’re understanding and love of music will grow as I teach you how to handle simple & sophisticated chord/key changes, and you will begin to be able to phrase like your “Guitar Heroes.”

I’ll help you with chord voicing: triads (open and closed), four-note chord voicing, comping, strumming, fingerstyle, and how to play standard grooves in all styles. 

Techniques include: Bending Alternate picking  Sweep picking Tremolo picking Hybrid picking Whammy bar Tone, EQ and effects pedals Tapping Slide guitar Hammer on/pull offs, Diagonal scales Arpeggios Exotic scales and modes 4 finger scales.

Bass Guitar: My bass students will lock into the groove and in the “pocket” tighter than ever! I teach right-hand/fingerstyle, slapping/popping, and pick techniques. We build your sense of rhythm, negotiating odd-time signatures and improvising/walking bass lines while I develop your understanding of chords, key and harmony. You will learn Arpeggios, Double stops, Chords & improvising How to write your own bass lines.

All of my students learn to sight read (standard notation/tablature), music theory & ear training, and composition/songwriting.
