About

My name is Estuardo Hernández. I'm a pianist and educator originally from Guatemala, now based in Berlin. My musical path has taken me through Costa Rica, the United States, and Germany, where I’ve completed advanced degrees in both performance and pedagogy.

I’ve performed around the world — from Carnegie Hall in New York to concert halls across Latin America and Europe — and have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds. I’m passionate about music not only as an art form but also as a way to connect, grow, and express what words often can’t say.

Besides music, I enjoy chess, personal development, running, and dancing salsa and bachata — because for me, life is about movement, curiosity, and rhythm.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is empathetic, structured, and deeply human. I aim to meet each student where they are — technically, emotionally, and mentally — and support them with clarity, kindness, and honest encouragement.

Whether you're just beginning or already advanced, I focus on helping you play with freedom, confidence, and expression. I’m not interested in perfection — I care about connection: between you and the piano, between sound and feeling.

My lessons are interactive, personal, and adapted to your needs. We work together to build a foundation that feels natural and sustainable.

Curriculum

My approach combines classical technique with a modern understanding of learning psychology and integrate tools that help you understand music deeply, not just mechanically.

For beginners, I emphasize relaxed hands, healthy posture, and playful exploration. For more experienced students, we work on phrasing, tone, advanced repertoire, and building trust in your own interpretation.

I have training in the russian school of playing and the taubman technique and usually for beginners and early intermediate levels I use the Piano Adventures Series.

I also simplify music theory and ear training in a way that supports real-life playing — not just abstract knowledge.

Above all, I want you to feel empowered, inspired, and excited every time you sit at the piano.

Credentials & Affiliations

I hold degrees in piano performance and pedagogy from three countries:

– Bachelor of Music – Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica
– Master of Music – Texas Christian University (USA)
– Master of Pedagogy & Konzertexamen – Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (Germany)

Throughout my studies, I’ve worked with renowned teachers such as Dr. Tamás Ungár, Prof. Albrecht Hartmann, and Dr. Alexandr Sklioutovski, and have participated in masterclasses with artists like Cyprien Katsaris, Yoheved Kaplinsky, and Tatiana Zelikman.

Currently, I co-direct Moonflare Concerts, a Berlin-based platform dedicated to artistic and emotionally immersive piano experiences.
