About

Evan McPherson is a Central Texas-based guitarist, educator, and producer with over 20 years of experience helping students of all ages grow as musicians. He holds a Jazz Guitar Performance degree from Cornish College of the Arts and brings a deep understanding of theory, technique, and improvisation to every lesson. In addition to guitar, Evan teaches piano, bass, and music theory, drawing on his diverse musical background to give students a well-rounded foundation. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has performed extensively throughout Texas in Americana, folk, jazz, and roots music, bringing a versatile perspective to his teaching.

Evan’s teaching philosophy is centered on individualized instruction — meeting each student where they are and tailoring lessons to their goals, whether they want to learn their favorite songs, develop strong fundamentals, or explore improvisation and composition. He has taught beginners through advanced players, led group classes, and served as Music Director for Great Hearts in San Antonio, where he taught elementary students songs from different cultures and languages. His approach balances technical skill-building with creativity, ensuring that learning music stays both challenging and fun.

Alongside teaching, Evan serves as Music Director, Producer, and Artist Relations for Ripe Honey Records, founded by Texas songwriter Samantha. In this role, he helps produce and promote artists. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or refining advanced techniques, Evan offers lessons that inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of music.
