About

I am a professional cellist and dedicated educator with over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. Earning my Doctorate in Cello Performance has greatly deepened my understanding of both cello pedagogy and performance. I currently serve as the Teaching Artist at Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program. Over the past years, I have taught in various music institutions, including the role as the Faculty Associate in Minor Cello at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, where I provided individual cello instructions and coached chamber music for students pursuing music minor degrees.

Teaching Style

In my teaching style I focus on tailoring each student's practice system to their individual needs including posture, tone production, right and left hand position, proper finger technique, and helping to manage their performance anxiety. While I place a strong emphasis on foundational technique, I equally prioritize developing a rich and expressive sound. Additionally, I work closely with students to set personalized short- and long-term goals, helping students build confidence and stay engaged in their learning journey.

Curriculum

My teaching approach is focused on nurturing a passion for music while prioritizing technical skills and musicality. I believe that a single teaching strategy cannot possibly be effective for all students, therefore I try to be sensitive to each student's strengths and weaknesses and allow them to find their individual voices. I aim to establish a supportive and motivational atmosphere for my students, encouraging them to achieve their maximum potential.

Credentials & Affiliations

I feel incredibly grateful to have earned my Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, where I had the privilege of studying with Alan Stepansky. Before that, I completed my Master’s degree in cello performance in 2021 at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Ilya Finkelshteyn. My journey began at Park University’s International Center for Music, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in 2019, studying with Daniel Veis. Each of these experiences deeply shaped me as a musician and as a person.
