Gaurav Arora

I am a professional concert pianist with over 10 years of teaching experience, along with extensive real-world experience performing on stage, rehearsing with bands, and working in recording sessions.

My musical journey began with Indian classical vocal training. I then went on to explore multiple instruments like piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, harmonium, tabla, and sitar. This diverse background has given me a deeper understanding of rhythm, melody, and musical expression.

I have delved into a wide range of genres including Indian classical fusion, jazz, rock, indie, and pop. I regularly perform at Candlelight Concerts, which has further shaped my stage presence and performance experience. I also had the opportunity to work with various bands and artists such as Gamak, Swastik, Josh Brar, and Mohini Dey to name a few.

My interest in jazz led me to study under some of India’s most respected jazz pianists, including Pradyumna Singh Manot, Nipun Cheema, Anurag Naidu, RonCha, Aman Mahajan, and Rahul Wadhwani.

For about a year I taught music (including the piano) to kids at a prestigious IB school, where I was able to inspire them to pick up and play various instruments. With these lessons, I aim to share my experience with those who want to go beyond simply reading sheet music or preparing for exams. My focus is on helping everyone develop the ability to listen, understand, and play music more freely—so they can confidently jam with other musicians and genuinely enjoy the process of making music.

My teaching is based on a practical, performance-focused approach developed through professional experience and jazz study. I focus on helping students understand the language of music so they can play with confidence, expression, and independence—not just memorize pieces.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or already playing, I help build strong fundamentals while also developing musicality, creativity, and a natural feel for the instrument.

- improvisation and jazz fundamentals (optional)

In my classes, I focus on ear training and musical understanding so you are not dependent on copying or memorizing. Over time, you will learn to understand, pick up, and play music more freely on your own.
