I’ve been immersed in music my entire life, beginning with piano and trumpet before discovering my passion for stringed instruments in high school. I picked up guitar, joined the orchestra on viola, and dove deep into music theory taking both regular and A.P. Music Theory. In college, I fell in love with the mandolin, which has since become my primary instrument.

My musical journey has taken me through bands, theater productions (Cotton Patch Gospel), and years as a worship leader, where I played guitar, mandolin, electric guitar, and bass. I’ve also worked with a local singer-songwriter (Liz Fulmer), recording on two albums (the second received favorable review in local paper), touring locally, and even opening for Meghan Linsey and Elise Testone.

With a lifetime of experience, a strong foundation in music theory, and a specialty in improvisation, I love helping students develop their own musical voice. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to guide you on your musical journey!

My approach balances fundamental skills—like technique, music theory, and ear training—with creative exploration. I specialize in improvisation and love helping students develop their own musical voice, whether through spontaneous playing, jamming with others, or crafting their own arrangements.

Rather than rigidly following a single method, I focus on practical, hands-on learning. I encourage students to play along with songs they love, experiment with new ideas, and build confidence through real-world musical applications. My goal is to make every lesson engaging, enjoyable, and suited to your unique musical journey.
