Gina Caviar
About
Gina received her Masters Degree in Viola Performance from Hopkins University. She has studied and worked with Roberto Diaz, Mick Wetzel, Peter Marsh and Michelle LaCourse. Gina can be heard and seen in numerous TV, recording and Film projects that include United Airlines, Apple TV, the TV series “Fargo” and The Alan Parsons Project to name a few. Gina has toured Spain as a professional symphonic violist and has also taken students on music tours to Spain and Italy. Gina directs the string program at St Ann Parish School and is a sought after coach and private studio teacher. Her students have played in youth orchestras including the Pacific Youth Symphony, Santiago and Prelude strings and the San Diego Youth Symphony, as well as summer youth festivals. Since January 2023, Gina has been serving as a teaching artist with the San Diego Youth Symphony, where she coordinates and runs school orchestra programs with other teaching artists through the Opus program. Gina also coaches viola sectionals, teaches private lessons and has led the Debut Strings in rehearsals for SDYS.
Teaching Style
I use many method books to cater to the specific needs of my students. I like my students to understand why I am teaching a specific point and how it relates to their progress so they can be active in their learning process.
