About

I am a freelance musician and teacher based in the Dallas area.  Currently much of my schedule has been cleared due to COVID-19. I thought I might be able to help share my craft with those who are bored out of their minds, stuck at home.  OR if you have already been looking for a new teacher, let’s call it a silver lining that you’d find your new teacher during this difficult time!

I live in Dallas with my parnter who is a performer and teacher on the Double Bass. In my spare time, I love running, hiking,  Minecraft, and binging TV shows!

Teaching Style

Everyone who decides to start taking music lessons has different reasons for doing so.  As my teacher, it’s my job to listen to my students and adapt my teaching to best suit their needs. Whether you want to achieve your  very highest potential, you want to learn that sick Lindsey Sterling solo, or you just want to do something with that dusty old violin you’ve got lying around, I’m your teacher!

Curriculum

If you have anything specific you’d like to work on, I’m all ears! If not, work primarily out of the Suzuki books for all Beginning and Intermediate players. If you are a beginner, It’s likely I’ll start you on Suzuki book 1. If you are more advanced, we might take one or two lessons to figure out exactly the best repertoire for you to work on. I use the Suzuki books for child and adult players alike

Credentials & Affiliations

I received my bachelor degree from Indiana University, which is famous for its stellar music program. While there, I studied violin pedagogy with Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner at the Indiana University String Academy. The IU string academy is a world-class k-12 pre-college music school who’s students regularly are admitted into some of the worlds most prestigious music schools such as Juilliard, Curtis, and Shepherd School of Music.

After receiving my Bachelors in music, I was admitted on full scholarship to the Shepherd School of music where I received a Master’s Degree in viola performance. In my current city of Dallas, during regular, non-pandemic situations, I enjoy a busy schedule of various playing engagements including playing as substitute for the Dallas and Fort Worth Symphonies. I also have a private studio of students, ranging from beginner to advanced and of all ages. Adults too!
