Hi! I'm Heather a professional musician, educator, and dedicated piano instructor specializing in the rigorous traditions of classical music. With over 30 years of professional teaching experience, my musical training began at the piano, where I developed a deep understanding of structure, harmony, and listening—skills that continue to shape my teaching today.

I hold a Bachelor of Music from the University of Colorado Boulder, with a formal minor in Piano. My teaching career began in 1993 at the United States Air Force Academy, and since then, I have cultivated a studio where my students achieve the highest levels of success, including performances at Carnegie Hall, concerto competition wins, and top state-level awards.

My performance career spans the United States and Europe, having served as a soloist and concertmaster for prestigious ensembles such as the Milwaukee Ballet and orchestras in Bulgaria and Italy. This international stage experience informs my teaching daily, allowing me to mentor students in the nuances of performance psychology and artistic expression. I have been recognized as an 'Exceptional Teacher' in Wisconsin, with my name honored by the state's honors orchestra.

In addition to my work at the keyboard, I am an accomplished pedagogical author and composer, having written over 25 technical exercise books. This deep involvement in music research allows me to identify and correct technical gaps with surgical precision, ensuring every student develops a flawless foundation.

My studio is dedicated exclusively to strictly classical piano pedagogy. I provide a rigorous, formal musical education for students who are serious about developing their craft and achieving true musicianship. My approach is defined by three core pillars: sight-reading fluency, technical mastery, and a constant, integrated emphasis on music theory.

I do not teach pop or contemporary music. Instead, we dive deep into the classical canon, building a robust foundation through scales, etudes, and repertoire. Drawing on the discipline of my classical training, I teach piano with a performer's focus on 'singing' phrasing and tonal color. My goal is to equip students with the technical tools and theoretical knowledge required to interpret the great masters with confidence, artistry, and a deep emotional connection to the music.

Our work is intentionally steady, calm, structured, and listening-based. Rather than rushing through material or focusing on surface-level results, lessons are designed to help students:
