Helen is so patient and very engaging. I’ve been trying to learn french for so long and she helped me get started and stay on track! She explains things very well and is very understanding.

Helen is very patient and willing to digress onto other topics. Today, I learned about the soft-sign «ь» and how it affects the vowel/consonant before it. No other teacher has ever been willing to explain this to me!

Helen is a patient and enjoyable person who makes learning Russian much less daunting! Her approach of explaining phrases, usage and deconstructing them is much better than dry knowledge of each of the six tenses, lots of vocabulary and complicated syntactic and semantic rules.

I found Helen because I wanted to improve my Russian speaking, reading and writing skills, after having taken Russian on and off for several years. Helen was a wonderful teacher, adapting to my learning pace and adapting her lesson plans so they filled in the gaps in my knowledge. She is patient, friendly, and explains difficult concepts very well. I feel very equipped to continue improving, and I wish I could continue my lessons with her!

Wow! Helen is an excellent French instructor. She is native French, and very patient in discerning the needs of her students. I wasn't sure that I would continue my private classes however, I will most likely continue learning French from her. Helen offers commendation when I say something correctly in French, but gently correct when necessary. Homework is extremely necessary, and she assigns it as well. Helen is an AMAZING french teacher!!! She is currently teaching our 7 year old once a week for an hour and she is able to keep our daughters attention the whole time by making the lessons fun, productive, and engaging. I worked with Helen 9 months ago using her introductory offer. My Russian language ability was effectively non-existent at this time. I have taken this time to teach myself as much Russian as possible so that I can understand at least some basics to make use of her expertise. During this most recent session, she was able to quickly assess my level of progress and easily put together a method of approach to competently improve my Russian language ability! Our kids are 9yr old twin girls. They have a busy schedule. We have put them in many things with the hope that they will like something someday! When we got them started with Helen, they were not happy and we were a bit trepidatious as well. They were shy at the beginning and now, after a few months, they want every teacher to be like Helen. She has been just amazing in connecting with the kids. She still has her expectations in terms of homework and can be firm when necessary. But the kids adore her. They are learning fast as well. Helen has that magical balance! Could not have asked for a better start for our girls. Thank you, Helen!

Helen was a wonderful teacher! She helped prepare me to move away to Europe and continued to help me while I was there. Her classes are structured differently for every student and is very well organized! Helen is incredibly patient, kind, and flexible. I've been studying Russian with Elena (Lena) for about three years. Previously, I had roughly the equivalent of one university year of Russian and hadn't enjoyed it as much due to the pace of the class among other things. However, I've stayed with Russian, as difficult as it has been for me, in large part due to Lena. She's extremely patient and competent, so I've gotten a lot out of the weekly and bi-weekly lessons. She also speaks good French, so it's been helpful, as the languages I know best are English and French. Спасибо, Лена !

I can't say enough about Helen. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher, and that's saying a lot because as a college professor and lawyer, I tend to have pretty high standards. I've been meeting with Helen for over four years and continue to be impressed with her mastery of grammar, vocabulary, style, and nuance, which is rivaled only by her cultural knowledge and unyielding patience. She teaches with a delicate touch but always makes her point understood. She does not obsesses over minor mistakes and gives you the space to practice without stopping you every second to correct you. She's always willing to review old lessons and connect them to new ones to reinforce your learning. I learn something new each time we sit down and practice. If you're looking for the perfect tutor, look no further. You've found her.

I can't recommend Helen enough! I studied Russian in high school and college, but it has been several years since I have studied it intensely. Helen quickly sized up my abilities and focused in on where I was lacking. We have been working together for several months now, and her class is the highlight of my week. I have been taking lessons with Helen for a few months now--she is an exceptional teacher. She does a great job personalizing material, both focusing on my interests and honing in on the areas in which I struggle. Lessons are a blast because I always feel like I've learned something, and because Helen has a great attitude. I especially like her positivity and patience when I slip up. Lesson plans cater to various skill levels. I've been studying Russian for 10 years, and I feel like Helen quickly figured out where I am and how I can get to where I want to go. This has been my first experience with private, online tutoring; I really was nervous to try it out, but I am so glad that I did!

Helene is the Best teacher I've ever known! I have been learning French for 3 years. And as I remember I always had a fear of French speaking, I was often forgetting even simplest words and grammar constructions during my speaking. It was my biggest trouble and awful nuisance for developing French skills. But she had helped me to fix that by encouraging, using relaxation techniques, involving into every lesson activity and topic. I'm going to continue our lessons till I'll have got the highest level. Sure, it is not a trivial goal, but now I know it will be achieved! And what about your biggest fear?))
