About

Hi! I am Horacio Alejandro Moreno Rangel, a professional pianist, piano instructor, and piano technician based in Mexico City. My mission as an educator is to help students connect deeply with the instrument, combining technical precision with artistic expression.

I holds a Licenciatura en Música - Piano from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where I studied from 2010 to 2019. During my time there, I focused extensively on classical repertoire, advanced piano pedagogy, and chamber music, which laid the foundation for both my performance and teaching careers.

Beyond education, I have a rich background in professional music experience. I have performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist in various venues and projects across Mexico. Notably, I participated in Arcadia Festival at Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 2018, where I performed works by Bach and Prokofiev. Additionally, my unique expertise as a technical piano tuner and repairman gives me a profound understanding of the instrument's mechanics, which I frequently share with my community and incorporate into my musical projects.

As an instructor, I have extensive teaching experience working with students of diverse ages and skill levels. Since 2015, I have taught private and group piano lessons in Polanco and the Mexico City metropolitan area, focusing on music theory, piano technique, and repertoire development. I have also worked as an independent instructor from 2015 to 2026, where I developed custom curricula to help students prepare for auditions, exams, or personal musical goals. I am thrilled to bring my passion and experience to Lessonface to help you achieve your musical aspirations!

Teaching Style

Why choose my lessons?

  1. Professional Studio Quality: Unlike standard video calls, I use a High-Fidelity Audio system and a multi-camera setup. This ensures you can hear the real sound of the piano and see my hands/posture clearly from different angles.

  2. Solid Technique: My methodology focuses on building a correct technical foundation from day one to avoid injuries and bad habits, whether you want to play classical music or modern songs.

  3. Customized Plan: I teach students of all ages and levels. We will work on reading music, theory, and a repertoire that you actually enjoy playing.

Curriculum

My teaching method combines the academic rigor of my university training (UNAM) with a flexible approach tailored to each student's goals.

  • Technical Foundation: We focus on proper posture, arm weight, and relaxation to produce a beautiful tone without tension.

  • Visual Learning: I utilize a multi-camera setup (overhead and side views) so you can clearly see the correct hand position and fingerings.

  • Structure: Lessons typically include a technical warm-up, sight-reading, and working on repertoire (Classical, Pop, or Latin music).

Recommended Texts: I adapt to the student's needs. I often use standard methods such as Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, Faber Piano Adventures, Hanon (for dexterity), and Czerny (for etudes). However, buying books is not mandatory immediately; I provide custom PDF materials and sheet music for our lessons.
