About
As a film and TV composer with over 20 years of experience, my music has been featured in major projects like Pirates of the Caribbean, Miami Vice, and The Monkey King, as well as Emmy-winning shows like Man In The Arena and Cured.
My work has earned multiple HMMA Award nominations and other accolades, including being shortlisted by the Los Angeles Times for the Oscar Original Song contenders. Projects I’ve scored have received Emmys, audience awards, and more. I’ve collaborated with top studios such as Warner Bros., Universal, and Sony, and have worked internationally across China, Germany, and the UK.
I’m passionate about helping aspiring composers improve their skills, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your craft. With my experience, I can guide you through the process of creating music that truly stands out. Let’s get started!
Teaching Style
My teaching style is deeply empathetic, focusing on meeting each student where they are in their journey. I quickly identify the key skills or concepts that will help you improve most effectively, avoiding unnecessary focus on small details unless it’s something you’re particularly interested in. I believe in drilling down to the core of what makes a composition work, building up from there. Once the foundation is solid, we can focus on specific techniques that will make your music truly stand out. My goal is to help you develop your unique voice as a composer in the most efficient and impactful way possible.
Curriculum
We can go over a piece you’ve written or are currently working on to explore how to improve it, or we can analyze a composition by another composer to see what makes it effective. This hands-on approach ensures you gain practical insights while understanding the underlying concepts that make music powerful.
