About
IBé Bulinda Crawley, the 2024 Virginia Historic Preservation Awardee, demonstrates the power of storytelling in the artist’s book titled 11033, produced at Women’s Studio Workshop 2022. Born in Danville, Virginia her most recent artist’s books produced 2024 at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, with the support of Crafting the Future, further documents the role of women as entrepreneurs in 1850 Richmond, Virginia and as civil rights leaders in the 1960’s movement. IBé Crawley has long connected art, history and social change- revealing stories the general public otherwise may not know. Her artist’s books share and add greater understanding to the roles that women play in culture. The National Museum for Women in the Arts, The British Library, Library of Congress, Bainbridge Museum of Arts and many others hold her books in their Rare and Special Collections.
