About
I am a 25 year-old songwriter/musician from the LA metropolitan area. My band has played in shows alongside Hippo Campus, Tijuana Panthers, Cherry Glazerr, Banes World, and Sure-Sure. I am a self-taught guitarist and pianist focusing in the Pop and Rock genres. I learned how to play guitar and piano in middle school, by learning my favorite songs at the time. I hold a teaching credential in English and am a 9th grade public school teacher.
Teaching Style
I want each lesson to be taught alongside a particular goal. I prefer when someone comes prepared with a song or riff they want to learn, and from there, I will try and find a way to teach it to them. I'm a big visual learner, so incorporating visuals in lessons will be huge for me. In addition, I am patient and understanding of people. I realize that every musician has different skill sets, and as a teacher, it is my responsibility to tap into each student's strengths.
Curriculum
In our lessons, we will go step-by-step in learning chords, voicings, and strum patterns. We will learn how to break down difficult sections, and break-down songs piece by piece. I am also very interested in songwriting, and how someone can get more comfortable with writing their own music. I started writing songs 5 years ago, and have come a long way through trial and error! I have many tips for people who wish to familiarize themselves with songwriting.
