About
Hello, my name is Javon Washington. I am from Hopewell, Virginia. I started my music path since 7th grade. My first instrument was euphonium/baritone horn, which I've played from 7th grade to my freshman year in college. My second instrument was trombone where I have played from 10th grade to my 5th and final year in college. I graduated from Hopewell High School in the year of 2019. I've made first chair in symphonic band playing euphonium, I was also eligiable to audition for all state. I graduated from Benedict College with a Bachelors in Music with an education minor and my applied instrument for my degree was trombone. I've also played bass trombone since I started college. I've been a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity of America Inc. since Spring 2022. I've played in the HBCU National Band Director Consortium All star jazz ensemble in 2022 as 3rd trombone. I am also apart of the 369th Experience Band since June 2022. During my years in college, I've played with the Benedict College Marching Band of Distinctions, the Benedict College Wind Ensemble, as well as the Benedict College Jazz Ensemble. Teaching Style
For my one-on-one lessons, I would like to focus and guide my future students on the basics of trombone and euphonium playing. Once we both feel confident that you understand the basics, we can get into the classical and jazz genre. Music doesn't have a limit, but it will forever be eternal. One word I can say when it comes to playing is "adaptation", music can come in all shapes and sizes. Trombonist can move from classical music to jazz as well as euphnoium players. These lessons will be fun and instructive, once you're finished with my session we will both leave out with something new to learn everyday.
