Jeffrey Ready
About
Jeff has been playing guitar for over 40 years and more than 25 years professionally. He has been teaching guitar for the past 10 years and teaches in a style that will have you or your student playing songs almost immediately. "Over the years I've seen so many instructors trying to teach in a way that becomes frustrating for the student. Students want to learn to play first then learn music theory afterwards. I teach so that you will be playing full songs nearly right away and learning to read the sheet music so you (or your student) can begin practicing and playing virtually any songs they want. Only then will we begin down the music theory platform. Too many students give up on lessons because they spend countless hours learning theory without actually playing full and complete songs. This is why I teach differently and why I have had great success with long term students who love to play with their newfound talents."
Teaching Style
I am 51 years old and began playing when I was 6 years old. By the time I was 16 I was playing in various successful rock bands in the Hollywood area in the 80's. In the 90's after completing my service in the US Navy (where I first began teaching guitar) I played in a successful local country music band. In the late 90's I began a long music career with my wife which continues successfully today. Known as Jeff & Jules, we have music published and available on Apple Music, Amazon, Pandora, Spotify, and nearly all other digital services as well as regular airtime across multiple internet radio stations all around the globe. We perform regionally and regularly in Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana in front of crowds ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. I have been teaching acoustic guitar for over 2 decades and teach a style that has the student playing complete songs and reading chords and tabs in just a few lessons in order to keep their enthusiasm and confidence at a maximum.
Curriculum
I teach basic chords, progression, and strumming patterns to begin with along with how to read chords and tablature from day 1. I ask my students to use the chords and tabs I give them as "homework" to practice with in between lessons. I provide chord charts and any relevant links to all my students within the first 2 lessons. My teaching method keeps a student interested in continuing to learn by focusing on giving them (and teaching them) songs they can play right away. We focus on other components like music theory in later lessons.
