About

Hi! I am a licensed music educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Artistic Education, specializing in Music, from the Escuela Nacional Superior de Folklore “José María Arguedas” (now Universidad Nacional de Folklore) in Lima, Peru, where I ranked first in my program for four consecutive years. I also hold a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Universidad Continental (2019–2021). Professionally, I have performed as a saxophonist with the Miluska Lavalle Orchestra, specializing in Creole music (2014–2015), and as a musician with the Cultural Association Brisas del Titicaca, performing traditional Peruvian music in various events and festivals (2012–2016). Since 2014, I have been teaching music to students in both public and private institutions, including Innova Schools (2017–2018) and Colegio Militar Leoncio Prado (2019–present), where I serve as a music and band teacher, specializing in saxophone, leading ensembles, and developing comprehensive music programs for students of all levels.

Teaching Style

Teaching music has always been my true passion. I aim to create a positive and motivating environment where students feel confident, inspired, and excited to explore their musical potential. I combine encouragement with a bit of humor to make lessons enjoyable while keeping focus on skill development. My goal is for students to feel proud of their progress and motivated to continue learning and performing.

In a typical lesson, I guide students through: 1. Warm-ups to improve tone, technique, scales, rhythm, articulation, and control. 2. Short exercises or etudes to strengthen finger agility and musical expression. 3. Performance pieces, including solos and ensemble work, to practice interpretation and stage presence.

I also incorporate digital tools such as Soundtrap Studio, where students can record themselves, collaborate on duets, and share their performances. This adds an interactive, fun, and modern element to lessons.

Curriculum

My main goal as a teacher is to help students understand that music is a form of expression and communication. I provide my students with plenty of reference recordings and performance examples to guide their approach and inspire their learning. Over my years of teaching, I have found that each student has a unique learning style, but all benefit greatly from attentive listening. When music is taught as a language, it encourages students to connect emotionally with their instrument, gain confidence, and develop their own musical voice, rather than focusing solely on comparison or perfection.

For beginners, I typically use method books suited to their level, focusing first on foundational skills such as reading music, rhythm, fingerings, and tone development. As students progress, additional materials and repertoire are selected to match their individual goals and abilities, allowing them to grow technically, expressively, and creatively.
