Jisu Ryu
About
I’m a Korean singer-songwriter and vocal producer with over 16 years of hands-on experience in music, including officially released K-pop projects.
I studied vocal performance and songwriting at Hanlim Arts High School and Howon University, and have worked professionally as a songwriter, top-line writer, guide vocalist, and vocal director. My experience includes collaborations on released K-pop albums with artists such as MAMAMOO, IVE (Lee Seo), HyunA, Jo Kwon, BTOB, and (G)I-DLE, working alongside major Korean entertainment companies.
Alongside my professional work, I genuinely enjoy teaching and supporting others through music. I understand both the technical challenges of singing and the emotional journey that comes with it, and I aim to help students build a healthy, confident voice through clear and practical guidance.
As a Korean artist, I find it meaningful to share Korean sound and culture at a time when global interest in Korea and K-pop continues to grow. Through teaching, I focus not only on solid vocal technique, but also on pronunciation, expression, and the emotional depth that characterizes Korean music and K-pop.
Teaching Style
I help non-Korean speakers understand how Korean actually sounds when it’s sung, not just how it appears in written lyrics.
Technique is taught in a clear and structured way, focusing on breath support, vocal control, scales, and accurate pronunciation. My approach is shaped by over 13 years of vocal teaching experience and is designed to be practical and easy to apply.
As a published K-pop songwriter and vocal producer, I coach vocals from the perspective of how songs are written, recorded, and delivered in real studio settings. Lessons are often connected to K-pop covers or singing content, with an emphasis on sounding natural, confident, and clear on recordings and social media.
My experience as an independent artist, including the release of multiple singles and EPs, directly informs how I guide students in preparing vocals for real recordings and performance-based content.
Curriculum
I teach using a professional home studio setup, including a piano, condenser and dynamic microphones, audio interface, studio monitors, a DAW, and a mirrorless camera for high-quality audio and video.
This allows students to experience lessons in a professional recording environment and to monitor vocals at a level suitable for real music production. Students can hear their voice clearly and accurately, similar to how it would be recorded for an actual release.
Based on my real-world experience in songwriting, vocal production, and recording, I share practical insights from the field. Students are able to see real session examples, understand the full vocal production process, and learn techniques that are directly applicable to recording, performance, and content creation.
