2024 TEACHER OF THE YEAR - EAR TRAINING!
2023 TEACHER OF THE YEAR - AUDIO EAR TRAINING!
I am a choir conductor, singer, and music theorist – but above all, I am a creativity enthusiast. I specialise in creative voice work, singing, and ear training, always tailoring each lesson to the unique needs, interests, and goals of my students. My teaching is deeply rooted in empathy and flexibility – I believe in meeting each student where they are and guiding them forward with joy, curiosity, and care.
For me, the most meaningful part of teaching is making music together. Whether it’s improvising, harmonizing, interpreting a favourite song, or experimenting with original ideas – our lessons are a space for exploration, connection, and expression.
Outside of teaching, I conduct The Spirit of Hope Gospel Choir, sing soprano in Vocalino Wettingen, write original songs, and explore other creative outlets like analogue photography, embroidery, and painting.
I create – and I love helping others create, too.
I’ve been teaching since 2013. Since 2018, I’ve run my own music education studio, where I offer lessons in music theory, singing, and piano. I prepare students for entry to advanced music schools and universities, especially in the fields of ear training, music theory, and singing – but many of my students are passionate amateurs, and I welcome everyone, no matter their level or background.
I began my musical journey at the age of 8, studying violin and piano, before falling in love with singing as a teenager. I hold a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting and Music Education from the Felix Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Poland (2014), and I completed an additional two-year postgraduate program in Music Theory in 2020.
I specialise in working with singers – both classical and popular – and enjoy supporting songwriters in developing and refining their own music.
Teaching Style
Ear Training with Me
As a singer, I use my voice actively during ear training lessons – and I invite my students to do the same. Be ready to engage your diaphragm and breathe with awareness, as vocal and physical involvement are an essential part of my approach. I also use the piano and various music software tools to expose students to a wide range of timbres and train their responsiveness to different sounds.
Every topic is carefully tailored to each student’s abilities, needs, and expectations. I primarily use relative solmization (movable ‘do’ solfège), which is especially effective for singers. While I do teach the basics of note reading and score interpretation, I never force students to read music if they prefer not to – I’ve developed a method for learning ear training without the need to write notes, based on over 15 years of experience and research.
After each lesson, I send a summary with class notes, so students can review and continue learning between sessions. I work with original materials I’ve created and refined over the years to ensure that learning is both structured and inspiring.
Music Theory with Me
I teach music theory in a way that responds to each student’s individual expectations, interests, and abilities. Whether you're just starting out or diving deeper, we’ll explore how to read and write music, understand musical structures, and recognise patterns across different styles and genres. My approach is rooted in music history and the evolution of musical language – always connected to real listening and performance.
Although music theory often gets a reputation for being dry, I promise it’s far from boring. It’s a bit like mathematics: surprisingly logical and elegant. The more you understand, the more clearly everything in music begins to make sense. And when theory is taught through sound, context, and curiosity, it becomes an exciting tool for musical expression.
After each class, I send detailed notes to help you review and stay on track. I work with original materials I’ve developed over the past 15 years – designed to make theory both accessible and inspiring.
